The American Wigeon (Anas americana) really is a stunning duck. Here is an adult male in breeding plumage. As all ducks, it is part of the Anatidae family. Females and Juveniles American Wigeon (Anas americana) and Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope) look very similar, but the plumage colors of the males make them easy to separate. Adult males American Wigeon (Anas americana) in breeding plumage have this stunning green face patch. A beautiful elegant species.

There was about 10 of them at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park that day, along with a flock of Canada Geese (Branta canadensis), American Coots (Fulica americana) and White-faced Ibises (Plegadis chihi) at the same part of the park. It was a lovely birding moment.

Love Nature.
