Asian Koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus)
Above is a picture of a female Asian Koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus) I spotted right at one of the entrances of the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, in the morning of my first day there. A very stunning bird we watched feeding on berries. The female has a very different and way more colorful plumage than the male. Member of the cuckoo family, the Asian Koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus) is a brood parasite, which means the female lays its eggs in an other bird species nest so its youngs are raised by them.
Love Nature.
