Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica)
This beautiful shorebird has a very wide distribution range, but in Switzerland, it can seen only during migration.
Juveniles and non-breeding adults are recognizable thanks to their delicate brown plumage and their pinkish bill, which is slightly curved in comparison to the Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa). This thin bill is their best feeding tool to find worms, insects and crustaceans on the ground. It can be up to 11cm long!
