Bedroom Birding

Great Tit (Parus major).

This morning I woke up and, as every day, I looked out my bedroom window (looking for birds :)). As I explained in my last post, I am always birding! For a couple of minutes I watched a Common Blackbird being as loud as it could sending alarm calls to the whole neighborhood because of the presence of a Tawny Owl. Then I noticed another bird in a nearby tree, same size as the Eurasian Blackird. Due to the very poor light of this overcast morning, I could not see much at that distance, only that the plumage did not seem black. I took my binoculars and to my great surprise it was a Mistle Thrush!

Being an avid birder teaches me so many great life lessons. One of them being:

Always be ready for the unexpected.

From that moment, it was a bird show for the next few minutes, where I spotted the following species, all from my bedroom window!

Carrion Crow (Corvus corone)

Eurasian Blackbird (Turdus merula)
Eurasian Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
Eurasian Nuthatch (Sitta europaea)

Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)
Great Tit (Parus major)
Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus)
Northern Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes)
Rook (Corvus frugilegus)
Tawny Owl (Strix aluco)
Yellow-legged Gull (Larus michahellis)

Almost 15 species in 15 minutes. Nature is so generous with us.
