The Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus) is a stunning raptor and a very common sight in the state of Kerala, India.

Adults (photo above) are easily recognizable, but juveniles may be confused with another veeery common raptor there : the Black Kite (Milvus migrans). Juvenile Brahminy Kites (photo below) have a paler appearance. 

If in flight, you can notice their rounded tail and shorter wings.
