This beautiful Cassin's Kingbird (Tyrannus vociferans) was rather tame to my surprise. I was walking around the lake at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park when it came and land on a tree right on my path. As I approached, it did not move and did not show any sign of stress or disturbance. I really enjoyed the minute or two I spent taking pictures of it. This colorful passerine is part of the Tyrannidae family. It is very similar to the Western Kingbird (Tyrannus verticalis) but its head is a bit darker, which makes its white throat patch appear more clearly defined.

Love Nature.
