Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula)
Males and females are easy to distinguish. The male's plumage is highly contrasted and absolutely stunning. Black and white body, glistening green-black head with a small white patch. The female has a brown head and a grey body. But both have beautiful amber eyes that give them the name of Goldeneye.
Common Goldeneyes are winter visitors here in Geneva, but extremely rare breeders in Switzerland.
