Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) in Cordon, France. May 2015. Not baited. Not called in.

After a night partying with friends in a chalet in Cordon, France, I woke up early to enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding this beautiful little village of the French Alps. From our chalet, I noticed this huge bird of prey being chased by two other birds. As I had not seen any Golden Eagle before, and the birds being pretty far, at first I was not sure what it was. I took a few shots and zoomed on my screen. A Golden Eagle!! :)

The wingspan of a Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) ranges from 1.8 to 2.4 meters. Needless to say it looks huge, even being that far! Being very agile and very fast in flight, they use their powerful talons to catch many different preys including Marmots.

The chase last a few more minutes until the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) decided to go away from the two Common Buzzards (Buteo buteo). For me it was a wonderful way to start the day.
