Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) / 10.04.2016

I spotted this Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) on the right side on the dirt road we were taking to reach Mgarr ix-Xini in Gozo. I stopped the car, took my camera and took a couple of shots. Awful pictures but I was happy of this first sighting. Because birds are so heavily oppressed in Malta, I did not want to get out of the car and try to get closer. The Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) is a long-distance migrant favouring warm climate and habitats like orchards where large insects are abundant.

Gozo, Malta.

Not baited. Not called in.
