Ashy Woodswallow (Artamus fuscus) in flight above Periyar Lake, Kerala, India. February 2015. Not baited. Not called in.

While on Periyar Lake, we spotted a couple of Ashy Woodswallows (Artamus fuscus). I found them really beautiful. They are also really agile and fast in flight, so getting a shot was a real challenge. I am glad we can see nicely the ashy grey upperparts the narrow pale band on the rump. Males and females look identical. They feed mainly on insects that they capture in the air.
