Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus)
Entering the sanctuary that morning, this Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus) was one of the first birds we spotted. I really like the black mask on its head. Shrikes feed on insects, and sometimes on small lizards or even birds, that they impale on a thorn. Because of their relatively weak feet, it is hard for them to hold a prey steady when consuming it. So they found another way.
Love Nature.
